Wayne Osmond, a cherished member of the iconic musical family The Osmonds, passed away peacefully on January 1, 2025, in Salt Lake City, Utah. Surrounded by his devoted wife Catherine and their five children, Wayne left behind a lasting legacy of faith, music, and love that touched countless lives worldwide.
Merrill described the dream he had the night of Wayne’s passing:
“I knelt in prayer, asking that my brother find eternal peace. That night, I had the most profound dream. Wayne appeared with his arms around my son Troy, who had also passed. They looked at me with the biggest smiles I have ever seen. I woke up in tears, filled with a joy and peace I cannot fully describe.”
He also reflected on a special conversation with Wayne in 2000 while performing together in Branson, Missouri. According to Merrill’s journal notes, he once asked Wayne what message he would want to leave for the world. Wayne’s response was simple yet powerful: to share his love for the Savior, his unwavering faith in the gospel of Jesus Christ, his devotion to his wife Catherine and their family, and his hope that the music and example of the Osmond family could inspire and comfort others through life’s trials.
Wayne’s life was a remarkable testament to faith, perseverance, and service. Beyond his musical achievements, he was a commercial pilot and even flew with the U.S. Navy’s Blue Angels. He and Catherine celebrated a loving marriage of 50 years in December 2024, building a home filled with faith, music, and love.
Despite enduring significant health challenges—including a brain tumor diagnosed in 1997, a stroke in 2022, and a subsequent battle with cancer—Wayne faced each trial with courage and optimism. Though hearing loss eventually led to his retirement from performing, he remained a cherished figure in the entertainment industry and a devoted high priest in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Merrill closed his message with a comforting note for anyone grieving a loss:
“If you’ve lost someone and wonder if they’re okay—know this: they are. They are at peace. They are surrounded by love, by family, and by light. Don’t worry. They’re doing just fine.”
