Introduction:
This week, we’ve taken a closer look at what life is really like for Donny Osmond—a performer so deeply woven into the cultural fabric of Las Vegas that many locals see him as family. Yet, as he shared in our continuing series, it’s his real family that keeps him grounded. And yes, even after decades of fame, he still does household chores.
For years, Osmond has been a defining presence on the Strip. His impact on the city is undeniable, and the feeling is mutual. “You’re part of the fabric of this community,” he was told. He nodded, acknowledging the ups and downs Las Vegas has weathered. “I’ve seen this town kind of like my career—the ups and the downs and the in-betweens. I’ve seen this town when it was considered a ghost town for entertainment.”
But now, as he proudly points out, the city is thriving more than ever. “What’s beautiful about Vegas right now is that it’s better than ever before.” And Donny is loving every moment of it. “When you ask me about the importance of Las Vegas, it really is the crème de la crème in show business. My wife and I love being Nevadans right now.”
Despite his extraordinary career—spanning television, music, Broadway, and an acclaimed solo residency—Osmond insists that success hasn’t changed his priorities. The spotlight fades the moment he walks through his front door. “When I go home, I take out the garbage, mow the lawn, do stuff like that,” he said with a laugh. Behind the entertainer is a husband of 44 years, a father, and now a proud grandfather of 13. “Life is great, and I don’t want to lose that.”
Osmond also shared the heartfelt story of the moment he knew he had found “the one.” He recalled double-dating with his brother Jay—Donny was dating Tammy, while Jay was dating Debbie, who would eventually become Donny’s wife. The turning point came during an Elton John concert. “When Elton sat down and started singing Your Song, I remember looking over at my brother’s date and thinking, ‘I’m going to marry that girl someday.’” Just two weeks later, the two switched dates—and the rest is history.
Today, Donny continues to balance family, fame, and a flourishing Las Vegas residency with the same joyful energy that has made him beloved for generations. He recently bought a home in Summerlin, further solidifying his roots in the community he now proudly calls home.
After decades in show business, Donny Osmond seems to have found the perfect harmony—career success, personal happiness, and a deep connection to the city that has embraced him. And as he continues to shine on the Vegas stage, he remains, at heart, a family man who never minds taking out the trash.
