Introduction:
From a five-year-old stage prodigy to a global superstar with nearly six decades of hits, Donny Osmond remains one of the most enduring figures in show business. The beloved entertainer, who once captured hearts as a teen idol and later as half of the iconic Donny & Marie duo, is now dazzling audiences in Las Vegas with a solo show that perfectly blends nostalgia, humor, and innovation.
Speaking from his Las Vegas residency, Donny’s charm is as effortless as ever. “If I depended on my cooking, I’d probably end up in the hospital,” he joked when asked about his culinary skills. But beyond the laughter, Donny revealed that he and his wife have recently embraced a mostly vegan lifestyle — or as he calls it, “Chan — because we cheat!” It’s a humorous confession that perfectly captures his philosophy of balance: “Moderation in all things,” he says.
Despite a busy schedule of five shows a week, Donny still finds time to nurture both body and soul. “The show is physically demanding — there’s so much singing and dancing — but it’s also the best show I’ve ever put together,” he shared. With nonstop energy and electric performances, it’s no wonder his Las Vegas audience keeps coming back for more.
Donny’s latest album, Start Again, is another reflection of his lifelong commitment to growth and reinvention. “It took me three and a half years to write,” he explained. “Every song has a story, and I think it’s my best album yet.” In true Donny fashion, his show even allows fans to select songs from any of his 65 albums, creating spontaneous, one-of-a-kind performances. “Sometimes people pick songs I don’t even remember recording,” he laughs. “We just play it and enjoy the moment together.”
One of the most unexpected highlights of his current show? A ten-minute rap that condenses 60 years of his career into a high-energy, multimedia performance. “It’s kind of like Hamilton,” Donny said proudly. “After it’s over, the crowd goes wild.”
When he’s not performing, Donny finds peace in his garden at home. “I planted a fruit tree for each of my grandkids,” he shared warmly. “They come over and say, ‘Grandpa, let’s see my tree.’ That’s my escape — pruning the trees, spending time with family.”
This year marks a special milestone — the 50th anniversary of “Puppy Love”, the song that made him a household name. “I was just 13 or 14, singing my heart out with this huge orchestra,” he recalled. “We did three takes, and that was the hit. I didn’t even realize what was happening.”
Half a century later, Donny Osmond continues to shine brighter than ever. With his Las Vegas show winning awards for “Best Show” and “Best Performer,” he remains a living testament to passion, perseverance, and pure talent. As he celebrates fifty years of “Puppy Love,” one thing is clear — Donny Osmond isn’t just a survivor of show business; he’s its ultimate success story.
